What differentiates Family Flex’s early care and education (ECE) offerings from other care providers?
Family Flex believes that a child’s most important teachers are his or her parents. Therefore, in order to fully support a child’s learning experience, Family Flex must also fully support parents. This is accomplished by offering extended hours, on-site enrichment classes, and dinner for children. Communication plays a vital role in this supportive framework, which is why the Touchpoints philosophy, developed by Dr. T. Berry Brazelton, is in play.
The core of Family Flex’s educational philosophy is the Creative Curriculum. The curriculum focuses on child-directed activities, varied roles of the teacher, assessments of the children’s needs and interests and collaboration between teachers and parents. All Family Flex teachers are trained in early childhood education and curriculum implementation. This enables teachers to provide children with appropriate activities for learning the skills that will help them be successful in school.
What kind of education do the teachers at Family Flex have?
We hire teachers who have degrees and experience. At a minimum, we hire teachers who have an associate’s or a bachelor’s degree. In addition, all of those teachers have their Early Childhood Teacher certification.

Is Family Flex accredited?
Family Flex was originally accredited in 2008 through Qualistar Colorado. Our most recent rating in February of 2014 is a 3 of 4 star rating. In 2014 we were able to add 5 classrooms and over 15 teachers to the rating process. The rigorous research-based process measures the quality of interactions, environment, ratios, and teacher education and experience. Please see www.qualistar.org for a detailed scoresheet.
How secure is Family Flex’s facility?
Very secure. Access into the building is restricted by use of a pin code on a keypad located at the main entrance. Access to the building’s lobby and classrooms is further limited as it requires inputting another pin code on a keypad tied to a second security door.
Is there off street parking available at Family Flex?
Family Flex has its own off-street parking spots for short-term parking to pick up and drop off children. In addition, on-street parking for up to two hours is available in front of the building on Acoma Street and along its south side on 10th Avenue.
When is Family Flex closed?
Weekends and major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. In addition, Family Flex closes one day a year for a teacher work day in order to transition the classrooms for the new school year. This typically takes place the last Friday in May.
Are there any parent involvement requirements at Family Flex?
Understanding the multiple demands on parents’ time, Family Flex asks that each parent of a daytime program enrollee volunteer some time through out the year. By taking the time to read to your child’s classroom, join a class field trip or help out in the kitchen, you’ll enrich the experience for yourself and your child. Of course, parents are welcome to visit Family Flex at any time to participate in activities or simply observe a classroom.
