We support the journey of childhood

Our mission is to support our indispensable Early Childhood educators, the families who entrust us with their children and the kids who make everything worth it.

We serve families with children as young as six weeks to preschool. We are proud to continue to support our families by providing care for school age children during all DPS holiday closures and a robust, unique summer program.

Our foundation is built on the belief that play is a child’s work. It’s how they learn about themselves, their world and aids them in understanding how they relate to others and their environment. Research demonstrates that free play develops children’s language skills, promotes creative problem solving, enhances math abilities, reduces stress, allows them to take developmentally appropriate risks, improves memory and stimulates growth of the cerebral cortex. The benefits of play in childhood are too vast to list here; we encourage you to investigate further using the links found in our Parent Resources section.

We respect parents as the child’s first teachers, our educators as the second and the environment (both indoor and outdoor!) as the third teacher.

We see children as competent, inherently capable and able to be co-constructors of their learning experiences. We employ a child-emergent curriculum which means we focus on tailoring the curriculum around the needs and interests of the children. Our educators learn about these needs and interests through sensitive observation and thorough documentation.

Our philosophy is strongly influenced by the work of Dr. Emmi Pickler, Magda Gerber and Loris Malaguzzi. Outdoor play and nature are also at the forefront of our foundational beliefs.

Our staff builds intentional relationships with each family so there is constant open communication about their child regarding their physical growth, social-emotional development and overall learning. We hold parent teacher conferences twice a year to deep dive into each child.

Our youngest students receive individualized care by our highly trained infant specialists.

Toddler-hood is a very exciting time for both the children and the educators. This developmental period is unique and so is our approach.

Our Preschool program rounds out our student’s experience. We are always in awe of the authenticity and ingenuity of this group.

The wide the range of possibilites we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences.” ~Loris Malaguzzi
